Bamboo Furniture FAQ
1. Is Guadua Bamboo Costa Rica a retailer?
Yes and no, Guadua Bamboo Costa Rica is a manufacturer of guadua bamboo furniture. We ship retail orders all over the country but also distribute our collection to our affiliates in and outside Costa Rica.
2. Are the prices mentioned on the website retail?
Yes, all prices on the website are retail, sales tax included. To become an affiliate and profit from our wholesale conditions, please contact us.
3. Is all furniture made in Costa Rica?
Yes, all our furniture is made in our factory in San Miguel de Sarapiqui.
4. What is the estimated delivery time?
Because of the wide variety of sizes and finish colors, most of our orders are custom made. Therefore it is advisable to place your order 2 to 3 months ahead of time. We also house a limited stock of our most popular designs, a daily updated inventory of the bamboo furniture immediately available in Costa Rica, can be found here.
5. Can I order a custom design?
Yes, you can virtually order any design, or resize existing furniture form our collection to your needs. Provide us a picture example of your favorite design and we will come back to you with a price and delivery quote.
6. What are the sizes of bamboo used in the furniture?
The bamboo sizes used in our furniture are classified as: Small (1.2 to 2 inches in diameter), Medium (2.4 to 3 inches in diameter), or Large (3.5 to 5 inches in diameter).
7. Do you use metal drawer rails?
To ensure smooth movement, metal rails are used on all of the drawers. We also line all insides of the drawers with a special bamboo weaving.
8. Is there a risk the bamboo will crack?
All bamboo is immunized by emulsion and air dried for more then 2 months this is a specialized process which reduces the moisture content to approximately 12%. This process allows you to use the bamboo furniture in drier European or North American counties as well.
9. What about insect infestation?
The immunization process kills all possible bugs or insects without fumigation or the use of dangerous chemicals. The bamboo is also protected against future attacks because of this system. The immunization process changes the molecular composition of the bamboo and makes it non-attractive for insects.
10. Is it possible to scratch the furniture?
Under normal circumstances it is not possible to scratch the stain of the bamboo. Although the outer layer of bamboo doesn't absorb stains, we use specialized techniques that preserve the colors finishes of your furniture.
11. Is the outdoor fabric waterproof?
Yes, the outdoor fabrics resists staining from rain.
12. Will the furniture scratch my wooden floors?
To protect your floors, we attach a thin rubber pad to the underside of each bamboo leg.
13. Does the furniture comes assembled?
Almost all furniture comes fully assembled. Larger items such as beds come knockdown (easy handling + and transportation). Although assembling the furniture is very easy, we also set up the furniture in your home when delivered.
14. Do I need a box spring if I buy one of your beds?
All of our beds include a split bamboo mattress support system, and thus are designed to work best with only a mattress.
