1. Is all your bamboo furniture made in Costa Rica?
Yes, all our furniture is designed in Costa Rica and build by highly skilled Costa Rican furniture makers. For this reason buying bamboo furniture from Costa Rica is a great way to acknowledge and support local artisans.
2. Where is your store/showroom located?
We do not operate a showroom or furniture store in Costa Rica. The reason is fairly simple; managing different store locations true out the country would dramatically increase our overhead as a furniture manufacturer and thus affect our retail prices accordingly. However, if you are interested to see our designs first hand please contact us for an appointment in our workshop and office in San Miguel de Sarapiqui.
3. How strong is bamboo furniture?
Of all bamboo species Guadua Angustifolia is one of the world most strongest bamboo's available. Guadua has a higher tensile strength then steel and therefore is often referred to as "vegetal steel".
4. What kind of bamboo do you use?
We use Guadua Angustifolia and Phyllostachys Aurea for the majority of our bamboo log furniture designs. These bamboos are locally grown on Costa Rican plantations and are harvested in a sustainable manner.
5. Does your bamboo furniture comes with a warrantee?
Yes, our furniture is quality guaranteed. No insect infestation, and no lose joints after 2 months,... our furniture is build with pride and to last a lifetime.
6. Can I order a custom design?
You can virtually order any design, or resize existing furniture from our collections to your needs. For a price quotation please provide us a picture example and measurements of your favorite design.
7. What is the estimated delivery time?
Because of the wide variety of sizes and finish colors, all of our furniture orders are custom build. Therefore it is advisable to place your order at least 8 to 10 weeks in advance (for larger projects).
8. What are the sizes of bamboo used in the furniture?
The sizes used in our bamboo log furniture are classified as: Small (1.2 to 2 inches in diameter), Medium (2.4 to 3 inches in diameter), or Large (3.5 to 5 inches in diameter).
9. What about insect infestation?
Our bamboo immunization process (replacing natural sugar content with minerals) kills all possible bugs and insects without fumigation or the use of toxic chemicals. The immunization process changes the molecular composition of the bamboo and makes it non-attractive for future insect attacks.
10. Is it possible to scratch the furniture?
No, Guadua Bamboo Costa Rica uses bamboo in it's natural yellow condition or applies a traditional technique of heating and polishing the outer layer of the bamboo to obtain a typical brown or ebonized color. We use this technique because bamboo does not absorb any type of stain in it's natural condition.
11. Does the furniture comes assembled?
Almost all our bamboo furniture designs comes fully assembled. Larger items such as beds come knockdown (easy handling
+ and transportation). Although assembling our furniture is very easy, our team gladly assist you in setting up your furniture when it gets delivered.
12. Do you use metal drawer rails?
To ensure smooth movement, metal rails are used on all of the drawers. We can also line all insides of the drawers with a special bamboo weaving called "petate".
13. Do I need a box spring if I buy one of your beds?
All of our beds include a wooden mattress support system, and thus are designed to work best with only a mattress.
14. Do you ship to the US?
Currently we do not export bamboo furniture to the US.
